Privacy Policy

Openreel (Zapline) for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV · Effective 14 October 2026

Openreel is a player for media you already have: your own Emby server and your own IPTV (Xtream) account. It does not provide any films, shows or channels, and we do not run any server that your use of the app goes through.

What the app collects

Nothing is collected by us. The app has no accounts with us, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and it does not share data with anyone.

What stays on your device

• The server addresses and sign-in details you enter, kept in the device's Keychain.
• Your picks (audio and subtitle choices, My List order, settings) and caches of artwork and catalogs, kept in the app's storage.

Deleting the app deletes all of it.

Who the app talks to

• The servers you add (your Emby server, your IPTV provider) — to sign in, browse and play. Their own privacy policies apply.
• Emby Connect (connect.emby.media) — only if you choose to sign in with an Emby Connect account.
• Public catalogs — IMDb's public datasets (datasets.imdbws.com) and TMDb's public ID exports (files.tmdb.org) are downloaded to rank titles. No personal data is sent.

Location

If you allow it, the app reads your approximate location once to show local channels. It stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
